Throughout this course, I have gotten a better understanding of what exigence is in comparison to the one I had before. While I could place my finger on what that was, this course helped me describe it well and get a deeper understanding of it. oftentimes confused with purpose, exigence is the why behind the purpose. One is trying to persuade an audience of something, but why? That precisely is exigence, the thing that motivated one to do something. There is more than one example of this throughout the course, including the water purification project and the memo. they are represented in the figures below.
