I had a vague understanding of stance before this course and I will admit it is still a bit clearer than before but it is still blurry. To my understanding, stance is one’s attitude toward a topic and can be found when examining the tone a document is written in and the way it is written. Before this course, my understanding of stance was quite mixed with exigence. Now, however, I understand that while exigence is the why behind the purpose, stance is the attitude and tone that one uses while writing a paper.
